A lot of Prescott-area lots are on a grade. A well-built retaining wall turns an unusable bank into a level yard, a planting terrace, a parking pad or a patio - and holds that hillside back for good. We build walls engineered to drain, because water pressure is what fails a retaining wall.

Why Wall Quality Is All In What You Cannot See
- Drainage is everything. A wall without gravel backfill and a drain line builds hydrostatic pressure and bows or fails. Ours are built to shed water.
- Reinforcement. Taller walls need geogrid tied back into the soil. Skipping it is the most common reason cut-rate walls lean within a few years.
- Base prep. A compacted, level leveling pad is what keeps courses tight and the wall straight over time.
- Reclaimed value. Level, usable outdoor space is real square footage - one of the higher-return improvements on a sloped lot.
How We Work
Straightforward, Start To Finish
Assess the grade & load
Wall height, what is above it, soil and water all set the design and whether reinforcement is needed.
Excavate & base
Dig back, build and compact the leveling pad - the part that determines whether the wall lasts.
Build & drain
Set and level each course, place gravel backfill and drain pipe, add geogrid where required.
Finish
Cap the wall, backfill and grade behind it, and finish the new space with rock, pavers or plants.

Frequently Asked Questions
How tall can you build without an engineer?
Rules vary by jurisdiction, but a common threshold is around 3-4 feet of retained height before an engineered design and permit are required. We will tell you where your project lands and coordinate engineering if it is needed.
Block wall or boulder wall - which is better?
Both work. Segmental block gives clean lines and tight terraces and is efficient for medium heights. Boulder walls suit a natural look and larger, rugged grade changes. We recommend based on your slope, style and budget.
Why did my old wall start leaning?
Almost always water and base. If there is no gravel and drain behind it, or the footing was not compacted, pressure builds and the wall rotates. A rebuild done correctly solves it.
Can you also pave the patio behind the new wall?
Yes - walls, terracing, pavers, steps and the finish rock or planting are one continuous scope for us.
